We walked the southern end of this shoreline path from Fairhaven northward. There is a section on an elevated boardwalk but most of the trail is on paved or well groomed gravel paths. At points there is access to small beach areas, and it connects to a park with a Woods Coffee shop too. From the trail, you have clear... More

If you want to get a sense of how Bellingham grew as a city this is a great trail to follow. The local museum has provided signage along the way to help you with the history. If history isn't your thing then just luxuriate in the amazing views across Bellingham Bay to the islands beyond

A leisurely walk with beautiful views. The path is well maintained and there are posts with historical information along the way (I didn't actually read them though).

I use a mobility scooter and the walk (roll) was easy and enjoyable. The trail includes a park with bathrooms and coffee shop. Along the route were blackberry bushes with ripe fruit.

..which is on the water just between Fairhaven and Bellingham. At the park, get on the trail and take a right to go to Bellingham, a left to Fairhaven. A lovely walk on the boardwalk, either way.

What a beautiful trail. I loved how part of the trail was out over the water. I enjoyed the forrest path with views of the bay. Even ran into three juvenile deer on the trail! I spent about two hours sitting on the boardwalk just watching the people and reading. This spot would bring me back to Bellingham!

Free parking in many places along this trail, plus some parks, coffee shops, etc. Great views of Bellingham Bay, and on clear days Mount Baker and mountains in Canada.

My husband and I recently ran along the South Bay Trail, from downtown out to Fairhaven. I was a little concerned beforehand because it was quite sunny, and I thought the trail might be out in the open, but there was quite a bit of shade. We enjoyed the nice paved trail, gentle slopes, and water views. We'll definitely run... More
