Lake Whatcom

We came from the south and drove around Lake Whatcom on our way to Bellingham. It was very nice and quite large as well.

Most of Sudden Valley is an open gated community and can be closed to the public unless you're a guest of someone who lives there to give you access to the boat launch and beach area. There is an off-leash dog park next to the lake, canoe rentals in the summer. The picnic area not well-kept and there is goose... More

We are lucky to have friends that have a house here. We have been many times since 2009. Every time we go is better than the last. Very relaxing and not too far from the border

The crystal waters of Lake Whatcom are worth a whole day dedicated to its wonder. Grab a boat, grab a bite, take a dip. You will not regret any of it. Washington has some of the most prestigious bodies of fresh water around.

Miles of beautiful lake divided into three basins. First basin dedicated to swimming and kayaking. Basins one, two, and three open for kayaking, jet skiing, boating, fishing, canoes. Swimming from the shore along the perimeter of the lake. Great location to find Eagles, Coots (mud hens), comorands, gulls, ducks, blue herons, meganzers, buffleheads, and many more birds.

For a fall day a lot of people were out and about walking, golfing and out sailing in the lake. A little windy today but the sun was out and everyone was taking advantage of a great fall day. A huge lake and good access to enjoy yourself

We enjoyed the beach at Lake Whatcom. We drove around a portion of the lake and loved the scenery. Homes are very pretty and the lake is enormous.

The lake provides a lovely setting for a ride or drive in a mobile cage along its shore. Not typical of mountain lakes in shape and that is refreshing.

My husband and I are middle aged, novice bike riders but we rented bikes in Bellingham, stuffed the in the back of our SUV and drove out to the trail at Whatscom Lake (the Hertz trail, I think it is, at the end of the road). It was relatively flat -- a few small hills but no many -- and... More
