We drove around the Island, in the past we have taken the ferry to Oregon. In the summer the island has a community garage sale, lots of treasures found.

Nice little place… We were staying in Cathlamet and decided to just take a drive and check out the area. It was somewhat exciting to cross the bridge over the Columbia River to Puget Island. To be honest, the entire drive along the Colombia we found to be beautiful. We love the water, the tree’s, the underbrush; everything is lush... More

Great scenic trip love all the little houses in Barnes and they even have some Eagles nesting. The ferry ride was the best!

Puget Island is an island in the Columbia River, connected to the town of Cathlamet with a bridge. We got to the island by taking the car ferry from Westport Oregon. There is a brand new ferry, just placed into service in March 2015, and it holds more cars plus there is room for RVs! We landed on Puget Island... More

The town is very unique and has great small town charm with the bare essentials needed to enjoy the area. Island is a great place to ride a bike or take a walk. There is a lot of quaint things to see like old fishing boats, vintage churches and wild life. The thing that concerns me is the amount of... More

The only way to get from Oregon to Washington between Rainier and Astoria, a distance of about 50 miles, is the small Westport-to-Puget Island ferry, MV Wahkiakum. This is a great adventure, especially for children, because the ferry is a small, open, barge-like boat that sits low in the water, and gives you a great view of the river, the... More

It's just unique scenery, the dairy farms, the slough, the homes on the 'beach'... the stoic(spelling) Columbia River. The "Deer and Cow Crossings" :)

Great place to bike, fish and just hang out. There is a rental here - Rog and his wife run the Friday market (with the "UP BEET STAGE" open mic, and in the back he has a PERFECT little house.

Get off the highway! Go down a guiet road to the dock, soon the ferry shows up and five or six drive on. Now we are sailing north to Washington, but arrive on another island, Take the road left off the ferry, then drive along the quiet roads, we saw deer and turkey buzzards eating lunch along the side of...
