Visited the Makah Indian Reservation on the way to Cape Flattery. We had heard good things about the museum and we were not disappointed. We always enjoy learning more about the early cultural history of North America and this museum is among the finest we have had the privilege to visit. The quality of the exhibits is first rate and... More

We made the long lonely drive to Neah Bay to hike the short Cape Flattery trail which is on Makah property - beautiful views there. Easy to purchase $10 reservation permit at the marina. As we came into town we realized they were having a parade and festival, turned out to be their annual Makah Days celebration with booths selling... More

I very much enjoyed my visit to the Makah Indian Reservation. It was a long day trip to arrive from Port Townsend, but very lovely water views. I liked the postings as I entered advising of regulations.

We took a group of 16 students to visit the Makah Indian Reservation to enhance their awareness of Native American culture in the Forks area. It is a bit of a drive, but the distance is well worth it! The students enjoyed themselves and the attention they were given. We asked each student to share their favorite memory, a typically... The museum is probably the very best museum of its type I've ever seen in my long life. What a surprise they've created with artifacts from the Ozette dig. No photos allowed, but they offer a video for $20 I couldn't resist. This is a treasure in a bleak town. I hope my family can visit some day. Worth the... More

The Makah reservation is up by Neah Bay and includes Shi Shi beach. Some beautiful beaches and nice views across the Straits but not in Forks! See Shi Shi beach. There is also a very very good museum of Makah artifacts in Neah Bay.

Great stop. We enjoyed this corner of WA. Long twisty drive to get here as it is out of the way but so worth the trip. Don't miss the museum. These are kind people and deserve our respect. Glad we went there.

Hiked the Cape Flattery Trail near Neah Bay. Well maintained, fairly steep, rewarded with Pacific Ocean views and rocky cliffs.. Also stopped for a cappuccino milkshake at the local coffee truck, which was excellent!

Beautiful drive through this area, and lots of hikes and views along the way. You are supposed to pay a $10 annual use fee to visit the surrounding areas and parks on the reservation. It is a little confusing where to purchase these - the museum has these (fee to enter museum), a market in town, and a campground. Be... More
