We did this hike in July and it was a nice hike with little to no elevation gain. This trail is historic and shows where the old building and springs are. There are good views of Mount Rainier from the trail, too.

Located on the Trail of Shadows, this is .2 of a mile from the National Park Inn. It's an easy walk - try it first thing in the morning - calm, cool, and no other people.

We were looking forward to our rustic night in the park but I have to say this place was disappointing. Coming from the UK we are used to old buildings but the room was very basic, cramped and noisy (not the peace and tranquility we...More

It was a bit unusual to have a cold water mineral spring on a active volcano, but it was what brought the Longmire family to the mountain years ago.

This is the trail and spring system across from the Longmire lodge. The trail is an easy walk surrounded by great nature. It is a great stop on the way up to Paradise.

In mid-March the Springs were full of cold, rather slimy water. They were interesting because of the history of the area that is explained and pictured on nearby signs along the walk, but I don't think they are usable. The warmer springs in the meadow...More

This is primarily a nature walk that even children can handle. The hot springs are almost all grown over. Years ago, it was a place people came for therapeutic reasons. Dogs are not allowed on trails so they will have to be left in your...More
