This is an absolute must-do! I encourage you to walk the full length of the upper and lower tubes if you have time. We walked the hiking trail all the way to the entrance of the upper tube and then did the tubes starting at...More

I recently hiked the ape caves with my family, including my kids, age 7 and 9, and my mother, a very active and fit age 68. This is a very interesting hike, but in order to enjoy it, you need to be prepared. You need...More

Awesome place to visit! We did the lower cave. It was fairly easily with kids ages 6-11 and they had a blast!

Ape Cave Lava Tubes are amazing. It's a bit of drive off of I-5 but completely worth it. It doesn't compare to anything else we've seen before. Be sure to plan ahead by bringing flashlights for each individual in your group (ideally something that you...More

This is definitely an amazing place to go. It's cool and dark, and an excellent place to go in the heat of summer. Lots of shade around the opening where you can have a sandwich picnic and not get sunburned. The lava tube is very...More

We visited in August and stayed at Lone Fir Resort. Very convenient just around the corner from Ape Caves and Lava Canyon. There are RV sites there as well. Great place.
