Being in the area for work and a passionate of the 20th century history, the B-reactor tour was a no-miss for me. The tour starts with an interesting introduction close to Richland, where the history of the site is sketched and shown in interesting and well done movies. Then a 40 minutes drive takes you to the B-reactor, the original... More

Holy Cow this was one of my bucket lists. The Reactor B tour is outstanding and a Once in a Lifetime event. I love the history on this place. It is just amazing to me. If you have no idea what I'm talking about take the tour and then your be like: Oh, wow! I never knew. Cool" and I'll... More

Well managed, the B reactor was definitely the highlight. My husband and I did this tour twice and found it very worthwhile. Although the whole tour was great, with info on both nuclear and chemical waste clean up, I would just do the B reactor in future.

My wife and I went on the B-Reactor tour as part of a local symposium on the Manhattan Project. It could have been the highlight of the symposium for us. I had worked at Hanford for close to 25 years but this was essentially the first visit for my wife to the Hanford site. The tour guide was excellent -... More

This is a must for people visiting this area. We did the Nuclear Reactor B tour. It was so informative, and eye opening. Amazing considering this whole place was built before computers, and in 11 months! Guides were very knowledgeable. Don't miss it.

This half day tour is free to the public. The guides are ex-employees of the Hanford area and very knowledgeable. I have read 3 books about the Manhattan Project and the role played at Hanford. But to be at the plant, in the control room, sit in front of the reactor core, and walk through the building was memorable to... More

I went to the Hanford B Reactor as a part of a conference focused on the social impact of technology. Boy, what an impact! The tour was good and informative; I learned a ton. It was also an incredibly sobering experience to stand in front of the reactor and contemplate all that happened as a result of this device. Morbidly,... More

Visiting the B Reactor, which recently became part of the National Park System, is an experience that everyone who has the opportunity to take should. The history of it's completion is fascinating and gives those touring an appreciation for the Manhattan Project and the many that were part of it from scientists to welders. From an important scientific advance, humanity... More

There is no other tour in the world like this one. The reactor and the reservation tours, though totally different, are both most interesting. Don't avoid these tours out of fear of contamination exposure. There is no risk. The quality of both tours depends almost entirely on the docents. Those we had lived and worked at the facility in the... More
