The little Spokane is one of the most beautiful areas in Spokane. There is Indian Painted Rocks which is a natural area (no dogs allowed because of wild life being present at times) with a beautiful foot path Trail that follows the river. There are a few areas that are a little tricky to traverse and at one point you... More

Although near town and with some nearby homes, this is one of the best natural areas I've ever visited. A three-hour canoe trip down the Little Spokane River offers true beauty & Mother Nature at her best with plenty of wildlife from turtles & racoons to deer & moose. Weekdays offer a quieter time with less river traffic.

A nice area that is relatively close to downtown Spokane. The river is slow moving so it is good to float and easy to kayak. Also offers some easy hiking trails, which makes it a nice area for families.

If you are a bird watcher, go here and be prepared to hike. Catbirds! in Washington and a handful of other songbirds that you won't find to the west of Spokane. Watch for rattlers and take bugspray, water, a hat, and a walking stick. Some parts of the trail are a little tricky, so if you have balance problems, sit... More

Best seen on a weekday early in the day if in the summer time. As the water drops, there are more snags to avoid so the area is best paddled earlier in the summer or even in the spring. Would have seen more wildlife if had been able to have the area to ourselves. On a Monday (mid-morning) a large... More

Grandparent settled here in early 1930's and I spent all my summers exploring, fishing and hiking here. Beautiful, clean and cold river. Abundant wildlife in the valley. Heron rookery. Fishing not so great anymore, but wonderful setting to stroll or float on a hot summer day.

Nice place to visit. Used to be a lot of fun to tube down the river, but they've placed virtually every parking spot off limits. Apparently the property owners along the river believe they own the water.... odd.... Some beautiful spots, wildlife, natural habitat and some spots like nowhere else, but sadly, you can't visit them!!! And, apparently, neither can... More

I've spent lots and lots of time here and always thought it was a great place to explore. Hiking the trails, observing nature, and absorbing the sights and sounds is fun to do here.

Good hike with some challenge, scenic and good for young teens. Careful, may see or hear a rattlesnake. Need a Washington State Sticker.

We like to float down the river on our kayaks. We put in by the Fish hatchery and take out 3 hours later by the dam. You forget that you are so close to the city. We have scene deer, bald eagles and many ducks.
