Doing the Cascade loop and found the Methow Valley a lovely stop. Walking trails at Sun Mountain are lovely (we did not stay there). We especially enjoyed our personal tour at the Smokejumper's Base just out of Winthrop.

Love coming to Winthrop every year to escape the fireworks - our beloved Bahbie has passed - but now the tradition has taken firm hold - we go every year and make sure to visit Twisp Arts Festival on the Fourth of July

Just s beautiful, charming area. People are friendly and helpful and the place just has great energy. I'm so taken with it I want to spend the whole summer here next year.

Drive on 97 is sonic as you drive into this valley. Plenty of sites to see on the way. Twisp is a town that has seen better days but Winthrop is a fun place with plenty of shops to browse.

The history is recent, but the geography is 10's of thousands of years old. Combine the two with beautiful scenery on uncrowded highways, and it's a very pleasant place to visit. Nothing is that expensive, either. Fun to do once every one or two years....More

We drove through in June and it seemed almost desert-like. Everywhere else was green and lush, but the valley is just a different environment. We have family there, so we will go back, but of all the driving we did on our trip, the Methow...More

There are many hiking trails and in the winter they become ski trails. The towns are full of wonderful little shops and helpful people. We ate at several restaurants and all were good. There are also bakeries in several of the towns. It is easy...More
