We went hiking here and an enjoyed a beautiful view that wasn't the least bit crowded on a Thursday. The hotel lobby and common areas were very conducive to families with hobbies rooms, restaurant and outdoor seating.

I don't know if the lodge restaurant offers wine / beer. We stayed in the Old Inn and brought everything with us, cooked all of our own meals.
