This beautiful park is only 15 minutes from the state capitol Charleston. There are numerous well marked hiking trails with varying degrees of difficulty. Many scenic picnic spots and shelters. I recommend purchasing the trail map available at the park office. There is a free map bit it is poor quality

The folks who care for the park do their best with few resources. Greater Charleston has to be the least walkable metro area I've ever been; no shade, completely car-oriented, minimally bike-friendly. The park is hard to find, but that's ok. The Nomadic Tribe (think 60's Rainbow Gathering) were having their annual event when I happened to go. Great to... More

We met another family here over Labor Day weekend. We both have pop up campers and called several weeks ahead of time to reserve two sites next to each other. Each site had water and electricity but one site had 30amp and the other only had 20amp. We stayed at sites 41 & 42 and they were very large and... More

We reserved a site in the campground for a 21 ft camper and could not get the truck and camper onto the site and unhooked. My husband is a former truck driver and his driving ability was not the issue. The site was too small. Secondly there is no cell phone service at the campground and we had just found... More

The Overlook trail was hard to find. Due to a fallen tree. Thanks to the young knowledgeable gentlemen staffing the Nature Center at the old pool we found it. The view was disappointing though. The trail itself was semi-overgrown with briars in a lot of areas. But it was a challenging hike in the beginning.

While staying in Southridge, Charleston on business, decided to take a diversion. Free and nice ride through the park, following a winding journey. GPS really helps.

Favorite, most convenient place for a nice hike in the woods in Charleston. Also excellent mountain biking. Unfortunately, the pool is closed.

You take some pretty narrow, winding roads to get here, but it is a nice park. Lots of old picnic benches, several covered pavilions, playgrounds, fishing, a few trails (we just drove through, didn't do any trails). Saw deer and birds. Peaceful. Roads are narrow and we had to watch out for bicyclists. Take a picnic out and enjoy the... More
