Opened in the summer of 2003, the Clay Center strives to present a variety of arts and sciences all under one roof. The Avampato Discovery Museum is two floors of fascinating interactive science exhibits, while the ElectricSky™ Theater features planetarium shows. In addition there are a large performance hall and a small black-box theater, an art museum, a fun museum shop, and a cafe. There's something interesting scheduled virtually every night here!

Went there Saturday night to the acountry Western rendition. Great performance and a fun time with friends we have not seen in years. Thanks Charleston!

The Clay Center is outstanding for concerts and plays!! Beautiful facility and easy parking! It also has handicap parking and access. I was able to take my mom there for a concert in her late 80s.

There is new management at the Clay Center - someone who has experience in children's museums and he has brought his experience to create new exhibits in Charleston. There is a climbing staircase going up 3 flights and enclosed with nets so this kids don't fall out. Boys and girls can try out fire fighting equipment while pretending to put... More

I needed to entertain my two little ones while Dad was in CE, so we planned to spend the morning here. The morning quickly became the entire day, 6.5 hours to be exact. We only left because we had to pick up Dad. My three year old loved everything he could interact with, especially the tiny town. Wonderful!

We made a stop after we finished visiting the capital building. Living in larger cities for 15 years I wasn't expecting much but boy did this place prove me wrong. It seemed well maintained. My 11 and 8 year old LOVED the "My Town" experience especially the ATM interaction tasks/games. The Grossology exhibit, sadly a few were out of order,... More

.....…I was rather struck by the fact that it appeared to have an art museum attached – the Juliet Art Museum, so I ventured in and this is what I found: a large, 2nd floor open-plan gallery, with quite an extensive hang of themed paintings – people, places and so on - and amongst the usual dreary dross there are...
