We recently spent four nights at Blackwater Falls State Park in one of the two-person cabins. We had previously stayed in cabins in other WV state parks, but this was our first time in Blackwater. Our cabin was one of the original cabins built in...More

Wonderful area if you enjoy hiking, swimming and enjoying beautiful landscapes. The area is beautiful, waterfalls plentiful and curvy roads. If you enjoy the challenge of driving this is the place for you, the mountains make this a true pleasure.

Great falls in a natural setting with mountain lookouts throughout the park. How much can you say to get 100 characters

Walk down some steps to view a fabulous waterfalls. An easy walk with a boardwalk the whole way. There's a campground for those who want to spend some more time there.

I loved this park. Blackwater falls was gorgeous. Also walked to a beautiful overview, Lindy Point. I highly recommend this beautiful view. We walked Blackwater Rail Trail and saw the coke ovens and Douglas Falls. All in all, a beautiful park.

I have been to Blackwater Falls many times and during all seasons. I am never disappointed. The falls are easy to get to and with each visit I wish I could spend more time there. There are many stopping points along the path to the...More

We just stopped on our way to Canaan Valley, to enjoy the falls. We walked all 200 steps to the falls and it was well worth the view.

Black Water Falls is one of WV's best parks. The Falls are beautiful but so much more to explore. Great hiking trails and scenic overlooks.

We stayed at one of the Blackwater Falls State Park cabins on the South End recently, and found the cabin to be very nice. It was very clean, and very roomy. We enjoyed the fireplace in the living room. The cabins are nicely spaced apart...More

Hello! I will be taking my first trip to WV next month and am looking forward to visiting Black Water Falls and Dolly Sods. I will be staying in Davis. Are both of these places easy to drive to and park? Also, dog friendly? I will have my four year old pup with me who is quite the climber/hiker. Any suggestions on favorite spots, wildlife to look for, etc. is much appreciated!

Blackwater Falls is beautiful. There are other trails, some with beautiful vistas. About Dolly Sods, it is a hike in, hike out type of place. There is a gravel road that surrounds the area. It would be beautiful for a... More

Considering a day trip for walking/hiking to the falls with the family. I have a 5 year-old and a 3 year-old who are both pretty adventurous, but I was wondering if anyone has brought kids along on the hike to the falls. It's hard to gauge the level of difficulty from the reviews with regards to little ones. Thanks!

There are a lot of steps on the main trail of your pet can handle the steps I say go for it. The smaller trails I am not so sure of they can be narrow.
