Was a beautiful day for a ride - up 219 from Lewisburg, WV. Road was a little congested, but quiet beautiful surroundings. The fall leaves are just beginning to do their thing. We wound through small towns, past Pearl Buck's Birthplace, and over to 39 at Mill Point. The Handley Wildlife Management Area was pretty spectacular. There were a few... More

We camp at Watago SP every fall and we always take a drive on this Highway, Beautiful views and sometimes you might see a bear. Take a exit off Williams River and try some Trout fishing or jus view a beautiful trout stream.

I highly recommend anyone to take a drive down Rt 219. We went during the fall and the leaves are just so beautiful. I do photography and found myself taking pictures left and right while in the car. I had to stop so many places to get good shots. I can only image what it looks like in the winter.

My husband and I take this trip every year the second or third weekend of October. We hit every spot along the way. Every year we are amazed at the beauty and peacefulness in this county. It is deff a trip worth making every year and taking pics along every stop. Will continue to do this for many years to... More

Many beautiful vistas to stop and relax to. Outhouse at each site with a bench or two, and some placards with interesting info. If you are in a hurry don't bother. Sip some wine and enjoy!

Taking parent on road trip through part of an area she had been to 60 years ago. Lots of history in the area and beautiful views. Makes a great road trip and lots to see on the way through.

My buddies and I rode this on a recent trip and liked it so much we did it more than once. The road is very well paved and we only saw one other vehicle each time we rode it. It isn't a super twisty road but does have a few nice long sweeping corners. The scenery is amazing with a... More

This well-kept highway provides views of the mountains that seem to go on endlessly, yet it is certainly "a road less- traveled"; no stop lights, no billboards, no buildings and very few motorists. It is the highest major roadway in West Virginia that extends 43 miles from Edray (north of Marlinton) to Richwood. Along the highway are places to park... More

This is an excellent bicycle ride, also. All of the climbing presents quite a workout even for the most avid cyclist. You can create a nice loop by starting at Hills Creek Falls, up over the highway and then down into the town of Marlinton and back up the mountain to the Falls. Want even more of a challenge? Start... More
