This place is great for young adults and up. Small children seem to get bored easily. The mansion is great for getting a taste of time period life style. They have a horse and wagon ride around the island and there is a ton of local history to be gathered. Depending on your point of view.... the sternwheeler ride over... More

My husband and I recently visited Blennerhassett on a pleasantly comfortable day.when there were few visitors. Since there were few visitors that day...the re-anactors had more time to talk making our visit far more interesting. The mansion itself was lovely and we then walked to Malpe Shade which was also open with a guide. It too was interesting. We did... More

When I was a teenager, I visited the Island many times before it was restored. We explored around all the island. I found the "new and improved" island a great treasure for the history of Parkersburg and surrounding area. Thank you, West Virginia, for saving this historical site.

Do not miss a trip to this island, the history behind this reconstructed house is quite interesting... Nice park like setting. You get there by paddlewheel boat..

The entire package - ferry, wagon ride, mansion tour - makes for an enjoyable outing. The crew of the ferry allowed passengers to try their hand at steering. The talk during the wagon ride was informative, and the museum guides had interesting stories to share.

I have traveled to several of West Virginia's Parks and each one is unique. Blennerhassett Island was most definitely one of the best, so far! We decided to do the Brunch with Margaret, and it was so enjoyable. After taking the ferry to the island, we toured the mansion, then had a tasty, filling brunch with an actress dressed up... More

We visited the island at night for a special fire works show. IT was a neat experience I would love to go back and visit during the day. There was gift shop and concession stand open at the time we went but I also saw bike rental and museums and hiking that you could do. The ferry ride over was... More

Prepare to spend a few hours here to properly enjoy the entire island. It's amazing to imagine a house of this grandeur back in the early 1800s. The tour guides were very knowledgeable about the house. Really cool that there were some actual furniture pieces recovered after all these years. Spend time to visit Maple Shade house for free. It... More

It's a beautiful island and a beautiful park. It's a beautiful mansion and a good deal monetarily (especially if you get the package deal that includes the museum, the sternwheeler, the mansion tour, and the horse-drawn wagon ride). However, most of it is not actually the Real Deal. The original mansion burned to the ground in 1811, so what you... More

Beautiful!!!! Those that lead the tours are very knowledgeable. We enjoyed everything from the boat over to the wagon ride, tour and independent exploring. So much history right there on the island. Cannot wait to go again!!!!
