First time I've been up here in about 20 years. If you come back in from the east the road is paved. You can drive back down the other side about 5 miles if you want to see the lakes. The view at the top is amazing.

One can drive safely all the way to the top. The road is well paved though the last section is narrow. Not much to do once you get to the top except climb up an observation tower. We reached there when the clouds rolled in so didn't see much of a view. If you want to say you have been... More

Great roads to drive to top, in great condition. Easy walk on gravel to tower, great views. Trails as well, picnic areas, rest rooms. Saw deer on drive up.

Day trip with kids. Nice paved road all the way to the top. Narrow in a few spots for bigger vehicles so be courteous. Short walk to the observation tower. Nice path around the Knob to see down into various valleys. The observation tower provides a real nice panoramic view. It's windy up there and at least 10-15 degrees cooler... More

From the drive to the views this was a must see destination on your visit to West Virginia. I loved the drive to the top up the narrow windy road. Views you have to see for yourself.

We actually were on a weekend trip to skyline drive, decided to drive over this way while we were there and I was not disappointed! I thought it was absolutely gorgeous! I love going to the mountains and have explored most of the Pennsylvania mountains but the view from here was the most beautiful one I have seen to date.... More

The twisty drive is a bit narrow at points (it seemed to be about 7 or so miles), but it is well worth it when you get to the top. You can see views from your car as your near the parking area. However, at the top there is a 900 foot path to a small (3-stories tall) observation tower.... More

A long paved road climbs to the top of West Virginia's highest peak. It's a bit narrow in places, but two vehicles can pass each other without much difficulty. Ample parking was available, and the vault toilet bathroom was very convenient. A short walk to the observation tower was very interesting with plenty of gorgeous views. The tower view itself... Spruce Knob is the highest point in WV at almost 5,000 ft. It's a beautiful winding road to the summit. You park and walk 900ft to an observation tower to see the valleys below. There is a .5 mile loop that has some amazing vistas also. You really feel like your on top of the world there, absolutely stunning. There... More
