I visited the park in the fall. I never had seen so much yellow trees at the same time. The place is good to stay all day long. You can have a picnic or climbing the hill that surrounds the lake.

Views are amazing the trails are awesome we climbed by the way of the rocks but they do have stairs you can use must wear sturdy shoes .Hiking books I think are the best depending on what time of year you go. Totally an amazing place been there several times

Awesome, windy fall day that turned into a cold blustery winter afternoon. But was still fun! Try & find the 3 Whidbey Island Rocks we left. All painted & pretty on East bluff trail.

This is a favorite place of mine having grown up in Baraboo. I was back to visit and went for a hike up the west bluff and back across Tumbled Rocks along the water. Beautiful hike. Too bad we missed the fall colors. Still beautiful even though all the leaves had fallen.

If you go to Wisconsin Dells and have a free morning or afternoon I recommend driving to Devil's Lake in Baraboo, only 30 min away. The trails are great and the views are amazing. Even worth going on a foggy day. The trails range from easy to difficult. My favorite was the balance rock trail, you have to climb up... More

What a nice surprise!!! We happened to be there just as the Maple trees were peaking in Oct--always seen pictures of the peak times but never experienced it--it was beautiful. Even without the trees this park was great. Nice walking paths--some concrete by the lake-others hard packed up into the hills. The shore was full of rocks to climb on... More

Overview: Devil's Lake is a popular destination, and the trails around the lake are often crowded. Trails further east and away from the lake are more remote if you're looking for a solitary hike. Our hike (11.5.16): Total distance: 10 miles Starting point: Visitor Center's main area; Ice Age trail head entering East Bluff Woods Route: Followed Ice Age trail... More

Make sure you pick up trail map or booklet at the park entrance. You can choose between several flats trails, walk around the entire lake or take some of the steep trails. There are plenty of picnic tables and parking available. The park is beautiful in the fall.

So much to love about this state park--great beaches, kayak/boat rentals, FREE kayak tours by naturalists, borrow free fishing rods.BUT it's very popular. In good weather on weekends, parking lots are filled by 11 am and an actual line of cars waits to be admitted. Reservations for summer camping should be made months ahead. Weekdays are wonderful and night skies... More
