While staying at a Hotel in Baraboo, we asked about places to see close by. The hotel clerk suggested PEWITS NEST. PEWITS NEST is located a couple of miles west of Baraboo on County Rd. "W". A small parking lot is located on the south...More

Small park are that has been left all natural. Wasn't crowded while I was there but heard it could be when summer gets here!

Small views of the gorge from unkempt trails. Ground was muddy. Gorge was not as viable as others made it appear.

This is no longer a hidden gem. It is now just overcrowded, dirty and loud. There are many areas in WI that are maintained for the amount of traffic that summer brings. This just isn't that place. You likely would have to park on the...More

Insufficient parking, no facilities, poorly-maintained mucky trails. Beach the size of a doormat. Sure, it's pretty once you get in there, but there are SO MANY beautiful spots in Sauk County, I don't see what all the buzz is about this place.

Geography, history and adventure; an all-in-one experience at Pewit's nest brings its visitors back in time to an era dated millions of years ago. It's sandstone layers are littered with sprouted greenery and the bedrock that weaves through the canyon ripples down small rapids.

Whoever doesn't like visiting Pewit's Nest Gorge has either gone at the wrong time when there's too many people around or was blind😁. This is a beautiful place to come and hike to. Usually the best time to come is later on a Sunday afternoon...More

It was a little cool and raining today so we didn't venture into the water at all. Hiked up to the top of the Canyon and took some nice photos of the various waterfalls within. Almost made up for not being able to hike back...More

Pewit's Nest is one of my favorite hidden gems in this part of the state. It's unassuming from the road - and with the Dells close by, why bother hiking back to see a tiny gorge and stream? Trust me; it's worth it. From Hwy...More

Slot canyon easily accessed after a 3 minute walk. Cool to see the erosion of sandstone bedrocks as a result of Glacial Lake Wisconsin draining through Baraboo and the Dells.

Hi, Don. What would you like to know about this attraction? Are you able to cliff jump at Pewits Gorge? Is it safe?

Hi Don, I wouldn't try it personally, I don't think it's deep enough. It's important to remember the Pewit's nest is like a short, narrow canyon. In several areas near the edge of the walls it's angled downward slightly... More

No, a sticker is not needed and there is no fee. Parking is difficult, little space and regulated on the road, which is County W.
Hello friends, Does anyone know if it makes a good place for engagement photos? Thank you!

Personally, I don't think so. You have to go into the water and with so many people in a little area, it would be hard to get shots without someone else getting in ty he photo. I would have a backup plan if you decide to go... More
