Best bits of Baraboo

Free zoo, friendly and educated staff... can hardly wait for the otter exhibit. Great place to spend a half day.

We had a short time to waste in Baraboo. This zoo is easy to find, right in town. Free. My grandson loved the prairie dog exhibit. It took about 20 minutes to look at all the animals.

Most of the animals here are rescues and they seem very well cared for. It's nice to stop in and walk around to see how they're all doing and to see the newest rescues and progress on fundraising for new habitats.

How can you go wrong with a free zoo and park? I have been here numerous times in the last two years since moving to the Baraboo area, and each time has been great. There's a free parking lot on the south side of the zoo/park, as well as free street parking available along the east and south streets. Bathroom... More

When we first moved to Baraboo we were pleasantly surprised to find a free zoo in town. Over the years we have visited many times with our children and then our grandchildren. The prairie dogs have always been our favorite! Along with the playground and picnic areas Ochsner Park is a really nice place to spend some time with family.

The zoo is free to the public and adjacent to a beautiful park. Pack a lunch and stay the day. The exhibits are close and well kept. There are animals you won't expect to see in a small town zoo. Did I mention it is free?

Heard about a free zoo and decided to check it out. My 3, 8, and 10 year old really enjoyed it! It is small but very well kept. It was really hot bot around 4 must be the animals eating time because the animals started to move around more. The zoo keeper talks happen several times a day and are... More
