We played the Irish and Straits courses at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin. Obviously the Straits course, host to PGA championships, the next USA Ryder Cup, etc is the best known, and deservedly so. It is beautiful and difficult and borders Lake Michigan all the...More

The Straits course is a solid course.Heads right out to the lake on the front nine.Course was in decent shape but certainly not pristine.Though course is good it doesn't compare strongly to other courses in this price range-well behind Pebble,Bandon,Ocean Course in Kiawah.Irish course wouldn't...More

These Pete Dye designs speak for themselves. We loved the golf. All agreed we could play the River course daily; the Straits would cause severe mental illness if played daily. Only problem-the caddies were apparently having a labor dispute. Caddies all three days, every one...More

Put this golf/life experience right up there with Pebble Beach, The Old Course, Pinehurst, Torrey Pines and only a few more. One of the more difficult of the courses I have mentioned but as beautiful as any I have ever played. It was a bit...More

I'm not a golfer, but I'm so glad I went to see this golf course on Lake Michigan. With its twists and turns, hills and valleys, sand traps and water holes, I thought this golf course looked more like a war zone than a place...More

The most difficult course I have ever played. Incredibly picturesque. Caddies very knowledgeable and a must to get around this track. An experience my son and I will never forget and will want to come back to.

As part of a wedding weekend, my sons and I played Whistling Straits. Incredible. Beautiful layout along the Lake. Fair course as long as you play from the tee box associated with your handicap. Caddies know their stuff. Worth the price to play it once...More

One of the great golf courses in this country. Spendy of course, but well worth it if you can! We did not get to finish our round however because of a lightening delay and were then unable to come back as it was booked. We...More

Incredible golf courses & facilities. We purchased package which included a 30 min lesson. Pro was great...friendly, good communicator. Straits is walking only & you must use a caddy. Awesome experience with dramatic views of Lake Michigan. Courses were in immaculate condition. My caddy, Oscar,...More

We've been to Kohler a couple of times. The first time I was unable to play Whistling Straits, but this time it was booked early. Played The Irish first day and it's a really fine course. I enjoyed The Irish as you get a little...More

Kind of a foolish-sounding question.... How does 75* feel off Lake Michigan? Colder than actual temp? Shorts / Golf polo warm enough? Playing there this weekend. Calling for temps in the mid 70s - low 80s... thanks TK

I think you are safe with shorts, although I would check the wind conditions. If it is blowing over 20 mph, that would make it feel a bit chillier. Have fun!
