Great walking/biking trail

Take a walk on a sunny afternoon. Tube down the river beside the trail and bike it farther down the road. So much to see and do!

I live locally and use the trail all the time. It's a beautiful trail along the Red Cedar River. When going to the trailhead you can go north on a paved trail or south on an unpaved trail. Either way gives you nice access to nature and exercise.

Our family loves to ride and hike this trail. There are many Geocahes along the way and it hooks up with the Chippewa Valley Trail after 14 Miles for a very nice long ride into Durand (about 20 miles) or Eau Claire (about 38 miles) from the trailhead. Just be careful after a big rainstorm for washouts or erosion.

If you Bike/Walk/Ski plan on visiting the Red Cedar Trail. The trailhead starts in Menomonie, just West of Riverside Park. Gravel base, open and shaded areas, with riverviews all the way to Downsville. Benches and picnic tables conveniently placed alongside the trail. Lots of fishing spots and plenty of kyaks on the water this summer. The weeping wall is a... More

Comfortable ride mostly along the Red Cedar river. We ride out to the Chippewa river bridge from Menomenie which is about 29 miles round trip, The trail is not paved but it is well maintained. The scenery is mostly farmland and forest with a few river bluffs along the way. There is a rest area in Downsville which is at... More

I think it would be hard to find a nicer bike trail in the world. Not kidding. This trail connects with other local trails to provide hours of entertainment, beautiful scenery and charming stops along the way.

Our family is walkers, as we can veer off and explore small "off the beaten path" trails, and this place has the best we've ever seen--more beautiful than Devil's Lake and places like Willow River, as well. The nature, rock formations, towering trees, and the sounds of the river all add to the experience. Can't wait to go back with... More

Beauty abounds in all seasons! Family photos on the bridge, exposed rock ledges and many miles to travel at the Red Cedar Rivers edge. The trail is well groomed for biking in the summer and offers a beautiful backdrop for winter cross country skiing. Ice formations on the exposed rock ledges offer a striking sight of backdrop for photos. A... More
