My girlfriend and I wanted to try something different and new but not travel very far from home. We emailed the Mabel Tainter Theater staff and they suggested a private "ghost" tour. I am so glad we did this! We were met at the door by "Miss Pinky Pank" who handed us our on battery operated candles and walked the... More

My friends and I went to the play "The Secret Garden". I am not one to sit still for long. This play kept me riveted to my seat the entire play. One of the top theatres in the world, its beauty is undeniable. You absolutely have to stop here and tour and see a play if your in town.

A must see! Grew up in town, so I have many memories of the theater. Never let down by the performance, you must plan a trip around a play! I promise you will NOT be disappointed! (Grab some food from a local downtown restaurant while you're at it) Personally, I suggest you also learn the history of this amazing building... More

My wife and I visited the Mabel to see the Crucible. What an amazing theater!! You felt like you were stepping back in time. A truly beautiful place to visit. The only drawback was the seats were original and there was little to no padding on them. The play was one of the best I have seen. Great acting!!!

Built as a memorial for Mabel Tainter, daughter of Andrew Tainter, this historical theater is one of the nicest in the world. This may be in part due to its unique Architectural style built with stone from the Downsville Quarry. Interior features include gold guided embellishments in the theater and recently renovated seating. The addition was designed and built with... More

Intimate theater in the true Victorian style. While I'm not a fan of the style, the scale and appointments are true to the period. The outside is as a testimony to the preservation efforts.

On our way to Mpls we stopped in for a free tour (email ahead of time for tour hours). Upon arrival Rosemary gave us a great tour of this wonderful building and art center. A real gem. The history is very interesting. If you are passing by on I-94 take an hour or two detour and visit this place. It... More

I have lived near this beautiful building for 40 years. Every time I step inside, I am struck with the beauty of this structure. The building had a make over a few years ago so it is handicap accessible. Every month of the year the varied presentations and entertainment are top notch. Tours are available, but check times before you... More
