Been there many many times since I moved to Bloomer. It has a ton of wonderful things to recommend it. I have brought friends and they bring friends once they try it. Great for kids and lovely for a afternoon hike or snowshoe! Hanging around in the center you can see all kinds of fun critters and they have a... More

Whether you choose to hike in warmer weather or snowshoe in the winter, there's always fun outside on the many trails with optional distances. Inside is a plethora of interactive displays, movies, and games for children and adults. Learn about glaciers, moraines etc. Pack a lunch and eat outside, watching wild birds and butterflies.

This is a great family destination. The displays inside are amazing and it is a fun learning experience for the kids. In the summer time the walking trails are awesome and not very busy. In the winter time you can even rent snow shoes and enjoy the trails.

Getting back to nature is what you will find here. A learning lessons for all ages as you will take in the history of the many land formations and wildlife creatures. The hiking/snowshoe trails are so relaxing so don't forget to bring a camera.

Lovely hike where you can walk your dog off leash. Just be aware of hunting season, so you can feel less exposed to people with guns!

This is a great little exhibit. It is no more then a half day activity that would be perfect to take the kids on a rainy day. Lots of interactive exhibits and very unique.

My wife and I love to go here regularly to get in some hiking and snowshoeing. It's a beautiful area with great hills and lakes. We like to pack in a backpacking stove and make coffee and eggs mid-hike. There are Aldo Leopold benches along the trail that are great for this or sitting and relaxing for a while. Great... More

There are already several excellent reviews on the Ice Age State Rec Area. I can't add much except to say there are some hike-in camping spots. I do like that they have three trails to chose from of varying lengths and of course you can jump off onto the Ice Age trail. The views from the visitor center are excellent.... More

Great place to walk, with lots of variety, up hills, down into valleys and woods and plains. Connecting with the Ice Age Trail and interpretive spots along one section of trails have something for everyone, Snow brings snowshoe opportunities, allowing you to go places you could not go without the snow.

I was impressed with our first visit to the Ice Age area. There are three trails around the Rec area. The Mammoth Nature Trail is a .7 mile loop; the Dry Lake Loop is 1.8 miles and the Circle Trail is 4.5 miles long. Time allotted for a visit would depend on how much or how long one wants to...
