You have to walk on a ramp through the treetops to reach the entrance of this remarkable house, built in the 1940s.

The House on the Rock is the result of the imagination of Alex Jordan. It began as a retreat and studio he built for himself, but was added on to for years. The exploration begins in two living spaces which are very interesting. Although Jordan...More

This place is fascinating! You will never see anything like it anywhere else. Highly recommend if you are anywhere in the area. We drove from Chicago (3 hours) and it was worth it!. Be sure to mind the operating hours. Takes at least 3 hours...More

I don't think people really know what this place is. I sure didn't. We enjoyed it. Once. 1. They have you pay for 3 parts. My guess: they do this because it takes forever to get through! This allows you to tour over multiple days....More

This is a very strange, weird, different house. Can't even describe what you will see or can even imagine how one thought of the displays/layout. First time here and last. It is worth seeing once but would not go back. Very scenic driving to it.

Very cool to see all the different things that are in the house. The house is like a maze and being able to walk out on a ledge is very cool.

Could have spent a couple days here if I had looked at each piece of the collection in detail. It amazes me at the vision people like Alex Jordan have to create something so structural yet beautiful. The carousel was worth the price of admission,...More

We did not have a tour guide. Better to amble through at your own pace. Quite eclectic.

They have the entrance fee on their website. There are 4 parts and you can get individual parts or for all. If you cruise through the whole place it will take at least 3 hours. If you take your time it will take longer... More

I agree with the others. Many, many areas to shoot. Difficult to capture the vastness of collections so you may end up doing more close ups. Lots of Asian artifacts in the house......musical instruments and machines are... More
