The first and second sections were the best I thought. I didn't think the third area was necessary and was definitely more than than I needed to see and walk through. The gardens... read more

The House on the Rock is always fun to visit. This time we caught the Christmas show with thousands and thousands to You get to walk through the house and out buildings to see everything in the collections and the house that was build room by room. Santa claus figures are everywhere and lots of little lights. The mechanical devices... More

Confession? We traveled 14 days and 13 states including several iconic national parks, but House on the Rock was my favorite! It made me stop and think and wonder so many times I left dizzy and full-up with an Alice in Wonderland curiosity. It's a weird place, that's for sure, inspiring a sort of love-hate response as you turn corner... More

There is a lot to see. The place offers three packages to fit your budget and schedule. I picked package #1 because of my schedule. I ended up changing to package #2, which I recommend. You get to tour the original house and then the former owner's collection of stuff. This was the right amount of sensory stimulation. But there... More

Wife's been bugging me about this for years. So on our trip back to Wisconsin we had to make a stop in. This is a really bizarre and enjoyable site. Get the full package and go through the entire house, grounds, and especially the museum(s). For mobility issues I will say you will probably have to skip a lot. There... More

After years of passing the roadside signs, we decided to visit the "House on the Rock". I can best summarize our experience by saying it was like looking into the mind of a hoarder. This is a dark, dusty old place, short on maintenance. It contains many unusual and unrelated collections which are devoid of any informative descriptions. By the... More

I've been going to the House on the Rock ever since it was just a house on a rock. It was awesome to explore the house and imagine how people lived there. Now the House on the Rock is so much more. You cannot explain to new comers the amount of collections stored here and how fantastic the displays are,... More

The first and second sections were the best I thought. I didn't think the third area was necessary and was definitely more than than I needed to see and walk through. The gardens are very nice, the collections are kind of crazy, but overall we have lots of fun. There is loads of walking up and down ramps. Not many... More

The very best feature of this place is the view which is spectacular. We happened to go when they were in the midst of decorating for Christmas, I've never seen so many Santas. But this is the dream of a many who must have been very eccentric and there is stuff there you can't even imagine. He had a fascination... More

We have been to this location twice in the past, but this time I was using a cane with lots of hip pain. I found anyone with difficulty in climbing stairs should stay away. The house is beautiful and the exhibits in the hall are very unusual and neat to review. Tis place is recommended for a very unusual experience.... More

We went for the Dark Side around Halloween and it was great. Definitely a lot of fun scares. We had our 8 year old with and she loved it as well! Friendly staff and reasonably priced gifts, too.
