We got to the dock around 8:45 a.m., and reached the island close to 10. However, when we came back to the mainland around 2 p.m., it looked like the wait would be closer to 2 hours! They were just putting all 3 ferries into...More

Always a dependable, safe crossing between Northport and Washington Island, but a bit pricey at $53 for a car and two passengers.

We got to the ferry landing at 8:45am thinking we'd beat the rush, nope there were already 25-30 cars in line. While parked we saw people walking up, I thought to use the bathroom, but turns out they were buying tickets ahead of time. If...More

I would drive so you can go where and when you want. Don't try and walk as all you will see in an hour is trees and then it's time to return to the ferry.
