Yes, it's touristy and a bit understaffed, but it was great fun. Staff explained the process thoroughly and clearly and we loved the "mining" experience and our finds. We did a family bucket between three people, and there was plenty to go around.

If you like gemstones this place is for you. Lots of jewelry is for sale but the best part is prospecting for your own. You are given several choices of buckets between $15-100 and you dump the contents into a screen and pan for gems in their little man-made river. The thirty dollar bucket gave us several uncut rubies, emeralds,... More

This place was so much fun! We got the $60 bucket for the 3 of us. The buckets range in size and value of what you find from $15- $135. There is a genuine polished gemstone in every bucket which was so cool to find! After we mined, the associate took a lot of time to explain each and every... More

Kids had fun "mining" for gems. People there tho are typical sales people and we're kind of pushy about what to get or buy and hen you have small kids they are easily influenced so it was frustrating that way. Plus even after parents say no they continue to bring it up since it would get the kids to beg... More

Dells Mining Company is a regular attraction for us. We love getting the buckets and seeing what treasures we can find. We did not get nearly as many rocks this time. Could be because we got one really big pink quartz which was cool. We have had them make gems for us before and have had gems we found in... More

My mother wanted to take my 4 and 6 year olds to do this while on vacation. I wasn't really interested, but we ended up having a blast! It is pricey, but they had fun doing the actual mining and then learning about what they had found. My daughter is a collector of everything and rocks are right up her... More

First - to find someone to help you get started was a chore in itself. Once that's accomplished, dig out your wallet and go deep. The set-up is nice with the seating and panning. The buckets are of sand with a few rocks in them. Our gem was in a Baggie in the bottom of our bucket! We did not... More

I am not sure if my 8 year had more fun.....or if I did?! We got the $60 bucket and my rock loving kid was so excited and pleased. Pick up any Wisconsin Dells magazine/tourist guide and there were discount coupons. Or downliad the Dells app with more discounts. It was a busy day but we got in quickly. We... More
