This attractive mansion no longer serves as the official residence for Wyoming’s Governors. It was last occupied in 1976. While the building underwent restoration, which was completed in 2004, it is interesting that each room was restored to reflect looks and uses in different periods of time, starting with areas on the first floor which were restored to reflect furnishings... House has been beautifully and period restored but as we were not allowed to take photos it lost some appeal.

We were all impressed by this beautiful house. After ringing the doorbell we were welcomed in and given an overview by a knowledgeable member of staff who then sent us on our way as the tour is self-guided. There are photographs of all the Governors who have lived in the house and upstairs there are also photos of their wives.... More

We toured the house using the self-guiding tour sheet. It's fairly interesting - and there was no admission fee. We didn't find the house or the info learned from the tour to be remarkably impressive. If you want to immerse yourself in Cheyenne history/heritage, visit the house. If you're an out of town tourist short on time, there are probably... More

We came upon this by loosely following a walking trail round town on Labor Day weekend Sunday. The town was deserted really, streets very quiet. It turned out to be a real gem, a beautiful family home and it's a self guided tour. Lots of rooms to visit and it's FREE too! There are photos of all the Governors who... More

Loved seeing this place. Well worth the 30-45 mins spent there. Also don't forget to call the number on the signs and hear the audio tour at each room. They send you a discount code for the State Museum gift shop that has super cute stuff to buy in it!

My husband and I were going to go to the Cheyenne Frontier Days but decided to take in some of Cheyenne's history. This historic building is very interesting and has alot of history. We even learned that some of the past and the present governor's didn't and don't live in the mansion like the Colorado governor does.

If you're visiting Cheyenne, you should tour the governor's mansion! We loved the sign at the front door: ring the bell & come in! This free tour begins with a brief history of the governors & the mansion by your host. Then you are invited to take a self-guided tour of the three story mansion at your own pace. Lots... More

I'm always one for old historical mansions, and this one does not disappoint! The woman who guided us through most of the mansion provided a nice narrative to the families that lived in the home over time. The crews who restored the home in the early 2000s did a spectacular job keeping up with the history of the time periods.... More
