You don't want to miss the new three story conservatory! It opened in August 2017. The Grand Conservatory features a tropical conservatory, a Navy submarine periscope, and several areas of respite. The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is Wyoming’s only botanic garden. It exists in one of the most challenging gardening climates in the lower 48 states (high winds, regular hail, high altitude, little winter snow cover and unpredictable first and last frosts). Come explore our brand new Grand Conservatory as well as 27 specialty landscapes, where senior, youth and handicapped volunteers provide a majority of the physical labor. This is also home to Engine 1242, the oldest locomotive engine in Wyoming.

I love flowers and succulents and was hoping to see some, but the garden was closed for construction, seems like they don't know that people visit in the summer, was sad that it was closed.

Our new botanical garden has opened so we stopped to see it. Impressive looking building, filled with classrooms and conference rooms, and that's the part that surprised me. To paraphrase Wendys, "Where's the plants?". There is a open section of the building where you stroll...More

Dogs are allowed on the grounds and in the Paul Smith Children's Village, but not in the new Grand Conservatory.
