While other towns have a railroad center none can compare to this one. Lots of cars to go through, great service, easy to find as it is on themain street of Douglas, just east of the fairgrounds. If you are into the history of trains in Wyoming and the west be sure to stop.

This is a great stop! We loved the trains, & they are all so accessible. You can get on them & just wonder around. The ladies who run this were so nice. One of the ladies took our picture with the giant jackalope out front! We loved Douglas!

Great items for purchase, tons of info. Picture opportunities with the trains. Mention to the ladies about a commemorative coin if you go inside. Great little souvenir. ;) I've visited this place twice now, it calls me in every time I go visit my great friends when I need to escape my city home in Colorado Springs.

You can go inside all of them. They have a dining car, an old locomotive, and a caboose. The lady in the information center was very helpful.,

Inside the interpretative center itself is quite small and not a lot to see, however the lady working there is a wealth of information and you should definitely take the time to chat with here. Most of the museum is housed outside in the trains. They do not have all of them restored inside yet, but they do have big... More

We had a great stop-over here and enjoyed our picnic surrounded by some great examples of America's rail road history. The tiny museum has some very interesting materials and the staff who work there are only too happy to help.

We stopped here because of the Jackalope, but the trains were pretty cool also. The two ladies inside the chamber of commerce were full of information. They handed out stickers, jackalope hunting license for the kids and lots of information about the area. It was a nice place to stretch your legs after being in the car all day.

The Douglas Railroad Interpretive Center is colocated with the Chamber of Commerce, and doesn't have a lot of memorabilia on exhibit. What it does have is trains. And how wonderful they are! The massive Chicago, Burlington and Quincy 4-8-4 is the star of the show, a brute of a steam engine that must have been incredible roaring down the tracks.... More

I was in town on business, and had some time to kill. I stopped by and to my surprise it was really informative. I had a good time looking at the trains! If you are in the area it is well worth the stop!

This exhibit is free at the chamber of commerce. Several railroad cars are displayed including a fabulous steam engine. There were also cars that you could walk through. The dining car, which includes the kitchen, is really worth seeing. I've always wanted to enter a sleeper car and this was my opportunity. How small and carefully appointed this space is!... More
