Let's face it - it's called the "Geology Museum" but mainly it's a paleontology museum. There is an evolving set of exhibits, and nicely renovated space that allows for more exhibits. To my mind, though, one of it's chief attractions is the glimpses it provides into the dinosaurs, and while there are several of the exhibits I very much like,... More

A small but very interesting and informative museum. We liked the presentation of the different excavation projects and the geological history of Wyoming. The different situations of Wyoming from being under water to the altitudes of today and the location relative to today's continents are also fascinating. The museum makes a very good point of mentioning the situation of women... More

This is a special and rare museum that has been recently up dated. Everyone should see this place at least once--it is fascinating! Wyoming is a treasure chest for these fossils and there are few places to really see them.

The museum is located on the University of Wyoming campus and has terrific panorama displays of various fossils, including dinosaurs. It is not a large museum but well worth the trip if in the area. It also has a virtual terrained 'sand box' where you can see how landscape can affect water run off. Interesting for both kids and adults--very... More

Spend some time and read the information. Good activities for children. It has some rare fossils. We easily spent an hour there. Free and a nice walk through campus. Winter hours 12 to 3pm.

Located on the UW campus, this is a nice diversion that allows you to spend 30 minutes to an hour gazing at dinosaur artifacts and learning a little natural history. I know many people's favorite exhibit is the interactive sand pit where you create terrain that is automatically overlaid with contours and displayed on a screen. It is quite fun,... More

We visited this museum with young kids who were fascinated by the life size T-Rex displayed out in the front of the building. This, in addition to the other dinosaur skeletons displayed inside and the kid friendly displays make the museum fascinating for all ages. Visiting the museum you're not inundated with people or lines and can study each display... More

Overall, really good. Packed with fossils, activities, and information. For the little space it is, it packs quite a punch. However, having come here for over a decade, not much changes. There is some outdated information still up, various typos and spelling mistakes in exhibits, and some of these exhibits haven't changed since I was 6. It's a fun 30-60... More

The University of Wyoming is a beautiful campus. We know this because we spent some time yesterday searching for the Geologic Museum. We didn't find any buildings with markings for the museum or museum parking. We called the phone number listed on TripAdvisor and there was no answer or message about the museum. We checked the hours on TripAdvisor and... More

Don't want to oversell this museum -- it's just a few rooms -- but if you're into paleo stuff, you'll probably find a lot of great stuff in this small space. If you stay at the Hilton Garden Inn and take a walk across campus, drop in. You might be surprised at what you'll find. Some full-sized dinos, and lots... More
