Come & see lava up close & personal with experienced hawaii...

Come & see lava up close & personal with experienced hawaii volcanologist! Aloha! Mahalo for choosing ‘ahiu hawaii for your real lava adventure!! We have two different tour times. One at 9:00am and the other at 4:00pm. The price is $175 per person, which we provide a backpack, snacks, water, headlamps, backup headlamps, gloves and also a stick to walk with but also to interact with the lava! We hope you care about your safety. Cause your safety is our #1 priority! Our tour groups are small which we never book no more than 10people per tour guide for safety and personalism. Plus all of our guides know what's going on about the lava and will safely get you there! The hike distance to the lava changes from day to day.

I was visiting the Big Island with three other people specifically to see the ocean entry point of the lava flow from Kilauea. We stumbled upon the access road from the Kalapana side and even though we had planned on hiking the access road at dusk to see the lava a night we realized the bike ride wouldn't be too... More

This trip was the highlight of my trip. It's actually hard to reach the company on phone, I was lucky they picked up my phone on first time. But after that they never picked my phone. I mostly exchanged emails with them, they were pretty prompt and informative on emails though. So as such I didn't had problems booking the... More

Let me start off by saying, we did this back in May 2016 so it could be a bit different now. We hiked for almost 4 hours (round trip). It was hot, sticky and messy. I struggled a bit because for some reason, I am mud-prone but I took it on. Seeing the lava flow was well worth the hike... More

Loved it. When we went the lava flow was a 3 hr hike in. Not for the fainthearted it was hot and the surface is very loose and uneven. Our son who was 8 at the time slipped and cut himself (the rock surface is very sharp you have to wear gloves and solid shoes for protection. The guides were... More

With the new eruption lava flows are very accessible at the moment, so the trip was definitely not worth the price. However we could have expected the guide to bring some knowledge about volcanoes, the lava flow and the environment. But it was not the case, and the company was even fined during the tour by a Park ranger for... More

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We saw flowing lava and were able to get as close to it as physically possible. The company provided everything - bottled water, snacks, a packed lunch and even gloves to protect your hands from the sharp rocks. The only thing missing was marsh mellows to toast on the lava! Overall I was very impressed!... More

This is a must do if you actually want to get close to the lava. Visiting the visitor center simply isn't going to get you within 3 feet of lava to interact with it. I didn't want a normal "look at the red glow over there" experience, and Ahiu Hawaii delivered. At 1000 degrees, being close to laval will make... More

Did the tour yesterday and it was exceptional! After a vastly shorter hike than one could do from the usual parking lot, we got to see lava entering the ocean, we got to get up close to the lava and interact with it, and then we got to sit 4 feet from the lava and have lunch. Cool! Brought my... More

Let me say one off the bucket list. This hike was one of the best as we saw flowing lava. I read now that the lava is flowing along chain of craters road but we hiked with this company only in December in the rainforest. It was no easy hike, be ready to be in ankle deep mud. Avoid jumping... More

The best and safest way to see lava! Our week started off at the Hawaiian Volcano National Park. My family and I decided that we would go and see the lava entering into the ocean on our own. Very bad idea! First of all it was almost a 10 mile round trip. Second, the wind blows the ambion heat directly... More
