Although chasing fresh lava flows is extremely dangerous, Chris' years of experience and keen instincts combines for a thrilling adventure. Me my teenage boys sat on a cliff in silent awe, in the middle of the night watching lava waves crashing the shore then hiked...More

My family has been going to the Big Island almost every year for the last 30 years. We have been to Volcano National Park multiple times (always enjoyable), but never in my life have we experienced something like our trip with Chris and Big Island...More

You need to be there at 3am but it's worth it. Chris was on time at the rendez vous point. He lends you a walking stick and you can poke the lava with it. He's very knowledgeable about the volcanoes and the island. You get...More

Our timing was not good. Questioned several tour operators and all were (understandably) pessimistic on actually finding flowing lava. Chris was the only one suggesting it would be relatively easy. That should have been fair warning. We tromped around on 2-year old lava flows for...More

Definitely need to be up for the hike since you start at 3am, but it is definitely worth it. Don't think there is any other place to play with lava.

I wasn't too sure what exactly to expect when we emailed Chris about booking a tour but it was nothing short of spectacular. When you pull up to the meeting spot to meet Chris the adrenaline starts going and you head out on an unforgettable...More

You must do this hike if you're visiting the big island. This was better than a helicopter tour because you get up close and personal with the flowing lava. Chris is a great guide, very informative. Must have good shoes and be able to hike...More
