Hard to believe that places like these exist within 5 minutes of downtown Hilo but they do. The water is cold because it is fed by fresh springs but it makes for refreshing dip.It was amazing to see turtles swimming happily amongst the weekend swimmers.
Almost in the centre of town this is a real gem. There is parking nearby and plenty of shade, with options for sitting or swimming.

Close to town with lots of space and shade. There are protected pools with big surf just outside them. So you can have a safe dip while looking out at the big waves. Lots of grass for the kids to play on. Quite nice.

Such a beautiful place with multiple pools of COLD, brackish water. Shallow areas for the younger kids and deeper areas for the older kids. Spots where one can jump from the rocks, but please, always jump with caution and check water depth before leaping. Enjoy.
