One of the many beautiful waterfalls on the islands

It's well worth the hike, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are in fairly good shape. Make sure you get good directions if you don't go with a tour.

We saw this beautiful waterfall while participating in an ATV tour. While I do NOT recommend the ATV there are other ways to see these falls, and the guide we had on our tour did speak from his heart and shared the details of the Valley,The Falls, and the people now living there with us. The story was beautiful and the... More

This was a highlight of our trip to Hawaii. Great ( fairly easy) hike to 2 falls and breathtaking scenery with lush bamboo, greenery abounds and not really crowded. A must see.

In case you are following google maps instructions: please do not. You will save a lot of time going through forest and overgrown road for miles and at the end you will see fence with private property that is not possible to go through. Ask people around for reccomendation.

The falls at the end of Waipio Valley are almost 1200 feet tall, making them one of the tallest (if not the tallest) waterfalls I've ever seen in person. You can't get too close due to the private property in the valley, but the view is so good that you won't mind too much.

This waterfall can be seen at the Waipio Valley Lookout or if you have a 4WD vehicle you can drive down to the Hiilawe Falls to get a closer look and there are also tours that you can sign up for to explore this gorgeous area.

It's a must see ,photos from the top are great but once your walking on the black sandy beach .WOW , the drive down is like The Indiana Jones ride at Disney Land on steroids .

The hike to the waterfalls crosses private property. And a hiker lost her life in December 2014 while hiking up. We just saw the waterfalls at the distance, from the road. They are magnificent.

I don't know if I could hike all the way from the lookout.......I'm older. We got a ride to the turnoff. Highly recommend the 1/4 mile hike in. We saw horses on the way. Thousands of birds. Jungle.
