I visited Parker Ranch in October 2013 to write an article on them. I fell in love with this ranch and its history and went back several times. The self-tour is free, and you learn all about the Ranch and its history. It hosted a large group of military men during WWII. They regrouped and were key to winning the... More

Yes, a lot of guide books have not been updated to reflect the closure of the separate visitor center. The headquarters still maintains a number of displays and historic buildings and is worth your time to visit if you have any interest in the history of the cattle industry in Hawaii, The video in the historic white building is well... We enjoyed our visit to the Parker Ranch and actually visited with some of the folks who are currently involved in the ranching/cattle end of the business. It was very interesting!

We first visited the Parker Ranch store in Waimea and were then given directions to the ranch. The visit is free and you can wander the beautiful historic homes, grounds and stable, there was only one other car there while we were visiting.

It was an interesting visit. Two of the historic ranch houses were moved to the Parker Ranch headquarters. There is a film about the ranch that is about 20 minutes long. The main building is the current headquarters and sometimes rooms are unavailable because of meetings. Admission is free. Be sure to pick up the guide pamphlet as it will... More

Interesting history with lots of memories of the times gone by. Not at all crowded and free. Both the newer home and the original home tell a history unique to cattle ranching. The garage with several horse drawn carriages.

We stopped here yesterday afternoon...while it was kinda hard to find (not a ton of signage), it was a lovely, peaceful and informative stop! The drive up to the homes was peaceful. We saw some horses on the sides...but, signs stated that one should not feed or touch the horses as they may bite. The 2 homes that one can... More

Gorgeous drive up in the hills. Up to 3500 feet high, so it's quite a bit cooler. This is one of the largest ranches in the US and is the largest cattle ranch in the US. I'm guessing there could be thousands all along the drive. I believe they have around 160,000 (or more) acres.

They close at 4:00, so get there before so you'll have time to see everything. The employees are very informative as most have worked there for many years. There is a short movie and a museum. It's fascinating to learn the history of 'THE' Parker Ranch.
