This was the place we always brought the kids to swim and camp, until they learned how to swim. There were aways problems then, with homeless, trash, bathrooms etc. and there still is. Too bad. It's still an ok place for kids to swim.

Nice beach with facilities. A nice beach for the kids and a good place to watch the sunset. The beach has shade and picnic tables. The surf was not rough when we were there and was a sandy beach.

A small, mainly locals beach with a gentle slope off so great for kids. It can look shabby with campers (and homeless) at each end but it has a good vibe for a place to relax, soak up the sun and have a paddle. Parking is close to the beach and it's free. Add the fact it is part of... More

Spencer beach has very nice sandy beach, decent shade areas when you want to escape the sun. Not the beach for you if you want piece & quiet. A great family oriented beach. Clean, bathroom, camping if your looking for that. .parkings never been a problem. We have visited this beach several times....weekdays are quieter.

Not my favorite beach to swim at, however one of the best for small children. I have three children two of which are under 5 and can't swim. At Spencer's the water is calm enough that I don't have to worry about them being pulled in.. the down side is that the water quality is kind of horrible.. very murky,... More

Visit this park. Bring your lunch and chairs. You can change here. There is plenty of parking. Swimming is sometimes more difficult but fun.

In the cool months, this beach is a 10 minute drive from Waimea to warmer weather. This is one of the few sand beaches on the Big Island. It's clean, has bathrooms, plenty of picnic tables and shade. Walking out into the water there are rocks so bring water shoes.

This beach is good for folks not comfortable with the big waves of the ocean. There is a nice big shallow section that's great for the kids and lots of families spend the day.

We enjoyed the laid back feel to this area. Easy parking, numerous shaded areas, and not overly crowded (even on the weekend ). One of those "hidden gems", sprinkled throughout the islands, that suprise and delight wandering visitors.

This park is somewhat of a quiet refuge (on weekdays) versus Mauna Kea beach, Waikoloa beach, or Hapuna beach. Also, there rarely is surf of any consequence. It is a very nice place to go to sit in the shade and read, take a dip in the ocean, have a picnic, or sunbathe. While there are camping areas and a... More
