It's the only harbor for miles, and way off the main road, but the only place to launch a boat for miles.

A good surfbreak, but not much to offer for swimmers. Obviously popular with locals, partly due to the lack of beaches available. Lots and lots of rocky shorefronts in the area.

Spent some time watching surfers after our boat tour, also got to spend some time in a hot spring on the beach , very nice and secluded. Water temperature was just right

Stopped here on our way from Volcano to Kona so it was not out of the way. Black sand beach was nice but we were really hoping to see more sea turtles, just the one with a ring of rocks around it to prevent people...More

This beach was beautiful. Well kept and a lot of locals scattered about. Has restrooms and showers and some picnic tables and grills. Come here for a nice relaxing beach day.
