We visited for a beginner lesson and we had a great time strumming and laughing along. Really wanted to buy a new ukulele but the one we wanted was $1,500 and I had a $1k cap. Never-the-less it was a great experience, they have ukes at all price points, and it's certainly worth the visit!

We saw an ad on Kauai TV (channel for things to do and see on Kauai). Looking for different things to do, we signed up for the Tuesday night class. So glad we did! Kirk is an excellent teacher and presented basic instruction will great humor. The hour flew by, but we both learned enough basics that we can build... More

We went to Hanalei Strings to buy instruments, jokingly asking if they had banjos. We walked into the store mid-morning and were the only customers. The guy reading his computer at the desk was one of the rudest people I've ever encountered. He made it very clear that he was interrupted, had no time to discuss anything and hated having... More

Wife and I took a one hour lesson. Large group and we all got necessary attention from a fine instructor and his son. Learned quite a bit, loved every minute, and we got some wine.

We've purchased two ukuleles here. Both have been great experiences. My daughter was able to take one of their lessons. The staff is great with everyone who walks through their doors!

This store is packed with ukuleles of all types and descriptions. A popular shop in the Chin Young Market in Hanalei. They also advertise ukulele lessons (in store) and rentals, as well as guitar rentals. A great place to check out for the novice or musician!

A wonderful store where you can rent a guitar for the week, or take Ukulele lessons for $20.00 a night, including your instrument, and a glass of wine if desired. It was a fun atmosphere with an excellent instructor. A very good family experience, as the children in the group class appeared to be enjoying themselves the most!

We found this lovely store one evening by chance on our visit to Hanalei. The owner spontaneously invited us to join the "ukulele for beginners" class, which had just started as we entered the store. It was wonderful with a kind of magic atmosphere, especially at the end when a student volunteered to perform a hula dance while we played... More

We were visiting the island and as an avid knitter I had researched the yarn stores thoroughly Hanalie strings had great reviews and I was very excited to go and buy lots of their hand dyed yarns. I even made a list of yarn to buy from their website. Well I could not have been more disappointed. I had expected... More
