You can rent a bike at a number of places in town or just walk this as far as you can, it is absolutely lovely (minus the few areas of homeless people loitering in the park/beach, they are no bother just sad to see). We...More

My wife and I rented some beach cruisers from Kapaa and took the trail all the way to both ends. This was one of our favorite things to do while in the island. The trail has amazing views of the ocean with many pull offs...More

3 of us rented 3-speed bikes from Coconut Coaster's in Kapaa. Around $20 for 4 hours which was more time than we needed to go from one end of the path to the other with many stops along the way. A lock is provided so...More

Anyone visiting Kauai should be required to try this walk. The views are a perfect 10, and there's multiple places along the way for stopping to swim or snorkel or just relax. This includes some less-accessible beaches (for those not using the path). Bike or...More

Great path, right on the beach, easily accessible, fun to walk or ride a bike (recommend a bike - it's a long path). The only reason I held back one star is because of personal safety. I am NOT saying it is not safe and...More

We walked part of this path on our 3rd day in Kauai. It offers many beautiful views and is multi use should you decide to rent a bicycle. Not overly crowded so a very relaxing activity.

On the surface, this is just a few miles long walking path. But the whole thing is by the ocean and beautiful the whole time. Definitely check it out if you have some spare time to take a walk!

We rented beach bikes and biked the trail from old town Kapaa to the end of the path before it turns to dirt for mountain biking. It was a beautiful ride with ocean views not seen from the car on the highway. The path is...More

We had loads of fun riding our bikes along the path up and down the coast line around Kapaa. Take some snacks and drinks, there are Picknick tables and rest spots dotted along the path. You travel past some great beaches and it's a really...More

How long is the path? Where does it start/end?

Response from Craig m | Reviewed this property |
The path starts at the road by the Kapaa shores resort and winds about 4.5 miles of paved pathway and is a 1000 foot ascent. After the pavement it's a dirt road into the weeds and forest.

Are there places near the Kauai path to rent bicycles for riding on the path or do you need to arrive with a bicycle from another location? If there are rental centers, can you recommend a good place to rent bicyles? How much do they cost? Thank you!

Yes there are a few and always plenty of bikes at each. They all recommend calling ahead and reserving. Have fun.

There is a place in Lihue that rents wheelchairs and motorized scooters. Google such rentals to find location.
