Kilauea visitor center is immediate after paying your entrance fee of $25 per vehicle or free to active military. Great place to explore, nice exhibits and short video about the park and volcano. Staff extremely friendly. Nice gift shop.

You should stop here first while entering National Park. There you can ask for actual Informations. Also there is nice exhibition about volcanoes.

Like many other national park visitor centers, this one has a wealth of information, a gift shop, and rangers to answer your questions. They can help you make the most out of your visit to the park.

This was a good Visitor Center and fairly typical of what you find at an attraction such as this. The staff were interested in the place and I noticed one spending time answering questions and explaining about specific features of the place.

I agree with another traveler that the visitor center is a good place to start. You can find whatever information you need to take advantage of what to see at Volcano National Park.

The active volcano is not in Kauai. It's on the Big Isle of Hawaii. We did this tour last June and saw the ocean lava entry via a boat ride. The sunrise boat ride is the best. I highly recommend it! Lava Ocean Tours on the... More

Far as I know there's no public transport, you'd have to rent a vehicle or get on a tour
