We passed by this and decided to have a look. It opened at 10 :00 am. We are a little bit late. The time we waited for opening, we fortunatelly saw the whale slap. It costs 5 dollars to get in. It is a very small place. a lighthouse and some Hawaiian goose. I don't think it is a must... More

We went here to see the marine birds and hoping to scope out some humpback whales. We were not disappointed! We saw the albatross floating right over our heads and even saw a mating pair doing the courting dance up the hill behind the lighthouse. Saw the great frigate bird, the tropicbird, and tons of nesting boobies. The best part?... More

Two ways to view this area--one from a distance just outside the park and the other is to pay the park fee and walk around the lighthouse. The lighthouse is not open, but there is a small museum there. It was very windy the afternoon we were there, but that just made it all the more dramatic and exciting. No... More

Would defiantly go back on my next visit to Kauai. Saw whales, though a ways out still fun to see. The birds are very interesting and the lighthouse is fascinating. Great views up and down the coast. Great place to watch cool wave action on the rocky shore, just east of rookery there is a cool half cave that makes... More

Really Beautiful! Great staff! The signs and informative information was great. We didn't know was a national park/wildlife refuge (our bad) so we missed using our park pass. Junior ranger program was great for the kids. They got a cool patch. Ask at the fee station. Parking was a little crazy I recommend for the goose sightings and views. Great... More

I stopped at the point overlook to see the light house at the beginning of my tour of the north coast, drove to the end at Ke'e Beach and then did the Wildlife Refuge on the way back. Very interesting for bird enthusiasts - and probably more ocean life at a later time in the season. Tours into the light... More

It's $5 to enter the wildlife refuge and even without a visit to the Lighthouse, it was well worth it. The lighthouse is only open a few days a week so check on that before you visit. Even so, there are plenty of look out points with great viewing binocular stands or if you prefer you can sign in for... More

Kilauea Wildlife Refuge is one of our favourite places to visit when we are on Kauai! The birds are amazing -- the shearwater were still there -- just getting ready to leave, the Laysan Albatross were justing arriving, Red-Footed Boobies were there in abundance along with Frigate birds and Tropic Birds. This is a great educational site but it's also... More

Spectacular views of the surrounding ocean and the many bird species living on or close to the point.
