Watched our 10 yr old daughter and 13 year old son for the better part of the day yesterday...today...we rented a board between us (mum & dad) and had a blast catching waves with the kids. Can get crowded...bring beach booties to avoid rocks if you have them. Enjoy!!!

This is a very accessible beach for young and older folks. A lifeguard is on duty and there is a bay which the swimmers are required to stay within. There is a sand island that makes for a nice adventure. Bathrooms, showers and tables are available.

It's one of my favorite beaches on Kauai!!! Great atmosphere, beautiful sand and water, family and kid-friendly, perfect beach! You can see many turtles gathering in the little shallow end.

Good protected beach with shallow water snorkelling and plenty of colourful fish. Rather busy! Parking limited because parking lot was flooded. Two seals came ashore and were sunning themselves on the beach. This happened on two different days.

Clean, safe and fun beach with easy access to snorkeling. We were total beginners and with the kiddie pond we were able to get our bearings with the snorkel gear before getting out too deep. When we went deep the tide and waves were not too strong and the fish were plentiful. Parking was easy and the public bathroom was... More

Poipu beach is beautiful! I stayed at the Sheraton hotel, so I was right on the beach. Sunsets were fabulous! There were swimmers, surfers, and snorkels. I even saw a couple of whales breach in the distance! Perfect spot for every traveler!

Protected beach, great for the kids. But another area to go for snorkeling and walk out to the little island/sandbar. Turtles and munk seals come up onto the beach to nap. Some palm trees to sit under and picnic table close to the sand. Grassy areas to sunbathe too. Lifeguard is present.

Great place to snorkel, inside and outside the reef. Beautiful beach, quiet and relaxing. Sunsets are amazing from here.

This is a beautiful place, but no local vibe whatsoever. It is pure tourist. Even my kids (19 and 20) noticed it. We visited several towns and beaches in Kauai. The local flavor is a huge part of the experience. Poipu felt like visiting Santa Barbara.

Snorkeling = awesome. Sunset = spectacular. Parking = convenient. Washroom = okay. Food Choices = pretty lame. They need a few new restaurants here. The shaved ice place was pretty lame-o. They need to invest in an actual ice shaver (with the ice blocks) instead of a glorified blender.
