Fortunately, we had a guide to drive us to and inform us about this area. The road is rough, the wind can be fierce and the landscape provides an intriguing desolate canvas. Our guide, Bruce (as he did through-out the tour), gave us an informative history of, and perspective for, each area we visited. For example here; he explained why... More

You will definitely need a jeep for this trip. It is a long rough ride to an area in which large boulders are strewn over a barren landscapes but at the end of this journey is a beautiful beach with almost no one on it. You can see Maui and Molikai and whales.

We had a great time there. It's a bit of a drive on unpaved roads (about 20 minutes or so) but that was part of the fun. Nothing bad at all. The result is great. You feel like you are on Mars. It's so different than all the rest of the landscape. Great rest place and you can explore. Great... More

You will want a jeep due to the road conditions but the views and hiking were amazing. On a clear day you can see Molokai.

It's definitely worth the trip. The street might be a bit harsh, but nothing impossible. Definitely go there, awesome landscape!

The road is unpaved, and we were constantly thinking we had missed a turn (and we had) but, when you get there and walk up to the top of the hill, the wind is so strong you can understand how something so interesting could have happened.

Arriving at the red dirt cliffs overlooking the ocean below, suddenly you are surrounded by red rock boulders of all sizes. Like the surface of Mars, you wander through these natural wonders with awe. It is worth the cost of the jeep rental to explore this unique natural landmark, also the dirt roads leading to the garden are an adventure... More

Wow,, gorgeous to see but we are talking rock and red dirt! That's it! If I didn't know better I'd say we were on Mars! Then you get a glimpse of the ocean in the distance ! Beautiful,,rough terrain,, good to do once ...

Definitely need a jeep to get there. Great views of the channel and other island and it's interesting to see what the wind and rain have done to the rock formations. We continued to drive to Pulihua beach -- crazy bumpy ride but a beautiful wide beach (but not OK for swimming due to the steep dropoff and strong current).... More
