This is one of the stops worth taking on the road to Hana. We got to see the sunset and it was surreal. It wasn't crowded at all, it was mostly me and my husband walking alongside the hike path and enjoying the most amazing scenery. The park was quiet and serene all you could hear was the crashing waves.... More

Beautiful spot, as you would expect in this slice of heaven! We had a great time in this park, though we did not stay here very long. Camping requires a permit. Load up on mosquito retardant skin lotions and/or sprays.

The beach and most trails were closed when we were there at the beginning of December, but we thoroughly enjoyed wandering along the cliff edge trail, around the native cemetery, and down near the blowhole. We didn't explore the cave area. The park is being upgraded but already had dome paved trails. Not good for wheelchairs now because of closed... More

Nice break when you are driving to or from Hana. Beautiful paths to hike and take pictures. You can easily picnic in the park.

If you bring your walking shoes and hike the path along the waterfront about a half hour each way, your time here will be well spent. The coast is truly beautiful. The area around the parking lot is not that nice, however, and the beach itself is tiny. Not sure it's worthwhile just to stand in a crowd of tourists... More

Cute little wayside park with camping area, black sand beach & lively mongooses skipping everywhere. Was being renovated so lots of yellow tape, but should have newer sidewalks, etc shortly.

Great little black sand beach & cool park in general. Spend a few hours here, or a few minutes. Great place to picnic as you get close to Hana.

Lots to see, you can walk all around the park and take it all in. There are a few really neat caves, they do require walking down stairs to see. The black sand beach, and all the lava rock was beautiful. It was a windy day, so the waves were pretty intense, but it was awesome to see!

It was really nice but when we went the Black Beaches were closed for some work being done in the park. Beautiful sites, camping and hiking
