Another beautiful stop on the road to Hana. A beautiful black sand beach, with magnificent views above and below. (Don't miss the cave, if going down to the beach). There are plenty of places to rest, both in and out of the sun; and decent restrooms are also available. Even if one has limited mobility, there are many areas easily... More

If you're traveling the Road to Hana, plan to spend some extra time here. The beach is beautiful, and you can walk out and get a close up view of the blow hole (I wouldn't suggest for small children, tho). There are a couple of really neat caves along the walking trail. This is a great place to stop and... More

I think this is a must stop on the road to Hana. The black sand beach is pretty cool to see and there is a small lava cave to check out.

There is this lava cave on the beach that is kinda cool. Nice views from the cliff overlooking beach. Can see passing whales from cliff occasionally.

A stop at the Black Sand Beach never disappoints. Take the trail just past the beach that goes up the hill for another amazing view.

Black sand beach, hiking trail, cool cabins and a camping ground! What more do you need? There's a hiking trail that goes by some water places but the water was stagnant in one pool and the other one was closed off. It was still gorgeous!

Gorgeous views! There's a gorgeous black sand beach. Be prepared. You have to walk down several steps and then across a large rocky area to get there. The turquoise waters were breathtaking. There was a small cemetery. There were also tide pools, lava tubes and blow holes that our tour guide never showed us, but others remarked on how amazing... More

The black sand beach was a highlight for me, but the park also has cultural significance to the Hawaiian culture. If you're on the Road to Hana, stop by the park and investigate the coastline, the caves, the volcanic beach, and see the site of some local legends.

We were supposed to camp here one of the nights we were in Maui, but it was storming that day so we had to cancel so we just made a day trip and stopped by there for a short amount of time...we were also here the last time we were in Maui and loved it then too!

The park is crowded but you can normally find a place to park. A must to walk along the Black Sand Beach, only about 20 yards and up the trail to the rocks and watch the waves crash over the cliffs.
