This is a great beach for the family. Clean area. An ABC store across if need a snack or other needed beach things (flip flops for me). Had turtles swim by too.

Great coastline is not rare in Maui but this is a good beach for sure. Might be a bit short on parking spaces if busy, but we scored front row so that wasn't an issue for us. The sand is great, you won't need rock...More

Beautiful beach park on the outer edge of kihei, before you start making your way to Wailea. It's gorgeous and a wonderful place to catch the sunsets!

The beach sand is soft and warm. Plenty of room for everyone. The water is calm in the morning but rough in the afternoon. The sunsets are absolutely stunning!!! The snorkeling is out of this world, especially if you go north of the beach. We...More

We actually used the north side of the beach which is called Charlie Young beach, but it’s part of Kamaole I. Nice sand, warm water and we spotted a few crab between the rocks. There’s a port a potty and showers. Beautiful spot to watch...More

I had my old, no back-screen GoPro while I swam around. When I got back to room and uploaded the camera I was shocked to get a bonus in addition to the fish and sea weed video: whale songs! Whales singing and clicking and growling...More

A great place to walk along the beach, watch swimmers bobbing in the gentle surf, and get your feet wet. Almost all soft, white sand with easy access. On street parking only.

We love Kam 1 beach the most of all the beaches. Its perfectly sized at 3/4 mile for walking, sunbathing and meeting friends, has awesome snorkeling and amazing sunsets. The waves are relatively calm here, there are public washrooms and everything you need is nearby.

You can walk from Charlie Young all the way to Wailea from Kamaole beaches and this is the best location to be in the heart of Kihei! Walking distance to Fred’s than wait for Taco Tuesday by going to Kamaole Beach for Sunset!

Mostly sand ... however there are some areas with lava rock which attracts fish. There’s actually 3 beaches. Kam 1 Kam 2 Kam 3 They are all very close to each other and you can find good snorkeling on each

Kihei is more of a local Maui experience, great central location for all activities, but not as luxurious and vacation-touristy as Kaanapali. We loved the Hawaiian flair and comfortable options of Kaanapali, but usually end... More

Not sure. we were there for two weeks and saw small gatherings on the beach (Kam 1) on Sunday mornings. Not sure if they were spiritual gatherings or not. Sorry, could not be more helpful. ~Robbie
