Ulupalakua is home to MauiWine which offers one of the Islands' most enticing products - wines that carry the essence of Hawai'i, the spirit of Maui. MauiWine welcomes you to taste the fruit of the island in wines made from their 23 acre vineyard on the slopes of Haleakala, as well as the tropical wines made from the famed Maui Gold pineapples - all grown right here in Upcountry Maui. Visitors to MauiWine gather in the tasting room located in the King's Cottage, built in 1874 specifically for the celebrated visits of King Kalakaua, last reigning King of Hawai'i. Guests are invited to follow in the footsteps of Ali'i (royalty) and Paniolo (cowboys) on a guided tour of the historical grounds. A journey into Ulupalakua's illustrious past, a tour of the Makee estate, and a glimpse at the creation of Maui wines are all a part of the experience. Welcome to Ulupalakua... where the storied history blends with modern day agriculture, creating the perfect setting for the islands only winery and vineyard. Time Well Spent

Maui Wine is a step up from the former winery. For one, their wines are much better! And they're growing more varietals. Enjoy a tasting then get a few for the trip home...before wandering out on the grounds with monster trees you wont find anywhere...More

Winery is very nice- I'm not a pineapple wine lover but we managed to find something to ship back home. The drive itself was incredible- one of the most beautiful roads I've ever been on. Go for that !

The wine tasting is great, with unique flavors. We ended up buying 6 bottles to ship back home and the prices seemed reasonable. We recommend stopping for the free wine tasting. Also, there are great lamb burgers across the road for lunch!

I've been drinking Maui Wine for several years, but this was my first opportunity to actually visit the vineyard. My expectation for this visit was along the lines of the tastings offered at Koloa Rum and Kauai Coffee. We visited during a slow part of...More

Husband and I stopped here after visiting Haleakala. I don't know if the phone mapping sent us some round about way, but it took forever to get there via this narrow winding farm road. Upon arrival we weren't acknowledged by anyone and there were a...More

On a friend's recommendation, we made the drive past Kula to Maui Wine. There are only two wineries in the state of Hawai‘i, and this one is worth the visit. The drive goes past the place where you would turn to go to Haleakala. The...More

Really a cool place to visit if you're already stopping for a burger at the Ulupalakua Ranch Store. They have a monopoly on the restrooms so you'll be passing by the tasting room anyways! Free wine tasting! If you're a fan of Napa or Sonoma,...More

It takes a little bit of a drive to get to the winery, but it is well worth it. The grounds are beautiful and the tour (free) is good. You can sample three wines at no cost--but be careful because you will want to buy...More

I don't think you necessarily need to on account of any rule, but space might be limited and thus considering the length of the drive needed to get here, it would certainly be safer to book ahead. Call the winery and... More

Yes you can in some states. If you type in Maui wine you should be able to pull up what states sale it. I know Kansas does not. CO. does. I am not sure what other sates do
