Ulupalakua is home to MauiWine which offers one of the Islands' most enticing products - wines that carry the essence of Hawai'i, the spirit of Maui. MauiWine welcomes you to taste the fruit of the island in wines made from their 23 acre vineyard on the slopes of Haleakala, as well as the tropical wines made from the famed Maui Gold pineapples - all grown right here in Upcountry Maui. Visitors to MauiWine gather in the tasting room located in the King's Cottage, built in 1874 specifically for the celebrated visits of King Kalakaua, last reigning King of Hawai'i. Guests are invited to follow in the footsteps of Ali'i (royalty) and Paniolo (cowboys) on a guided tour of the historical grounds. A journey into Ulupalakua's illustrious past, a tour of the Makee estate, and a glimpse at the creation of Maui wines are all a part of the experience. Welcome to Ulupalakua... where the storied history blends with modern day agriculture, creating the perfect setting for the islands only winery and vineyard. Time Well Spent

We loved the winery. The venue has a wonderful history and the staff share the stories of the past willingly. The views are perfect and the wine allows you to taste wines and blends that are new and creative. We loved our visits.

We did a tasting with some very nice wines but our favorite, by far, was the pineapple. We have had this wine on the other islands but got a chance to actually visit the winery. Worth a stop for sure. Then one just has to check out those carved statues out on the front lawn. We thought they were carved... More

We went here bc we were at the goat dairy and this was down the road a half hour so we figured we'd visit. You get three complimentary tastings per person. In my opinion the pineapple wine was some of the worst I've ever had. But they had a very nice red blend, which we bought two bottles of to... More

Unfortunately the weather gods were not with us when visited Haleakala volcano. It was rainy, cold and extremely foggy. As a consolation prize we headed to taste the Pineapple wines. The road is long and felt pretty bumpy and winding, especially doing right after coming up and down from Haleakala. The place is located at a wonderful garden, we really... More

Stopped by the Maui Wine facility in seeing what they had to offer and enjoyed our wine tasting with their staff. I'm mostly a sweet wine drinker and couldn't find any I liked but Wife loved most of the dryer wines and had nice time within the gift shop purchasing some unique items for relatives! Not a large organization in... More

We went here after visiting the crater. It is a challenging drive once you are south of Kula -- sudden ups, downs and turns. But it is worth it once you get here. I liked all the wines I had -- and the pineapple wine is great as long as you enjoy a sweeter wine. They have a variety of... More

We stumbled upon this winery before doing some ziplining after seeing the sunrise on Haleakala. It was a great little surprise. We did the private tasting for $15 and had a great time with our guide enjoying the wine and hearing about the history of the winery. Tours are only at certain times, so if you want to do one,... You get 3 tastes. We liked Maui Blanc, a pineapple wine. Bought a couple of bottles to enjoy as we traveled Maui. Good place for a restroom break too. Nice pit stop.

We took the back way to Hana and on the way stopped by this small but unique winery. I was driving so I did not imbibe but my tasted most of their wines. She is by no means a wine snob but she did enjoy a couple of their wines so much that we bought a few bottles, Their rose and... More
