Hanakao’o Beach Park is located on the southern end of Kaanapali Beach. It is very easy to walk there using the beach front walking path from any Kaanapali Beach hotel. The parking lot is between the beach and Highway 30 (also called the Honoapiilani Highway). This beach is also called Canoe Beach as there is a Canoe Club here and... More

We have given up trying to "rank" the beaches on our visit; in that there are so many gems on Maui (and all the islands). This is yet another beautiful beach with easy access, good parking, and numerous options for sitting, picnicking, viewing and enjoying the ocean, waves, etc. A bit south of the main hustle and bustle of Kaanapali,... We avoided the overly congested Kaanapali boardwalk & ran this path in the mornings. There were lots of turtles a few feet out from the shore. They have many picnic tables, restrooms & a nice beach.

It's our family's quest to visit and experience as many beaches as we can, on our vacation to maui, as we can. One, maybe 2 per day.. from kihue to wailea and lahaina, and beyond. This is highest on my list thus far. For these reasons: I'm looking for color, that aqua/turquoise blue. Soft sand beaches. Black Rock out croppings,... More

This is a lovely beach. Lifeguard on duty, water was calm and clear. There is a rocky area near the lifeguard tower and there were many turtles resting/eating. There are plenty of shady trees and ample parking.

This is a great spot for snorkeling! The waters are relatively calm and very clear and actually quite warm. You will find tons of different kinds of sea life here including all sorts of fish and coral and even sea turtles! They like to sleep on the ocean floor, so keep your eyes open! And remember it is unlawful to... More

We'd cleared out of our rental condo and had the Avis car packed, with the entire sunny gorgeous day ahead of us before our red-eye departure from Maui. We'd created a great lunch of fruit and garlic bread toasted cheese sandwiches with the remnants of the refrig. so we thought about which beach we might spend our last afternoon before... More

Great snorkel area, lots of turtles and colorful fish. Free parking and a nice walk going north toward Lahaina, past big hotels, Hyatt. The sand is not so pristine but shade is provided by the big trees that line the beach area. At one end is the canoe club and a lifeguard is present, also public bathrooms. It is not... More

If you're coming from the north, you'll first see the adjacent cemetery, which is worth a quick look as well. This beach has a lot of parking, but you'll want to spend a lot of time here so get there early to get a shady spot. There are picnic spots with BBQ's and basic showers to rinse the salt off.... This is a great little beach park just at the southern tip of Kaanapali just before the Hyatt. It has great facilities a pretty beach and view, and it feels good relaxing here along with the locals and makes you feel like you are a part of the Aloha. It's definitely worth some time.
