Wow! What a hike. My friends and I had heard about doing a "moonlight hike" here since apparently it's brutal to do this whole hike in the sun & heat, which I can believe. So we started on the maalaea side first at around 6:45....More

Take more water than you think you will need. Good workout, great views and fun to walk to volcanic rocks. Windmills on the top and can make hike longer if you want. Recommended hike

Hiked this trail with two 5 year old girls and my girlfriend. We all had a blast and thought about doing it twice during our 8 days in Maui. Trailhead is directly adjacent to the north parking lot at Napili Kai Beach Resort just before...More

*Tip: bring 2-3 times more water than you would expect on a trail hike - this felt more like a Sedona Dessert trail than a traditional rainforest/Hawaii trail We had read about this trail a few days before we passed it and actually stopped off...More

Great views on this hiking trail even if you don't make it all the way to the top. Plenty of places to stop and catch your breath

My rating represents the degree of difficulty of this trail. Up up up over boulders with very few breaks. The wind is fierce. Attempt only if you are very fit and an experienced hiker.

Not hard to walk. Plenty of stops along the way for beautful pictures. Takes about 1 hour depending on how fast you walk and stop.

I started from the Kihei side at the highway, just before sunrise. 1 hr 15 min up to the top. Beautiful views on the way. 1 hr 19 down to the park lot on the Lahaina side. Bring water. I went through 4 bottles.

Not in the top 5 hikes on Maui, but not bad either. The hike is very easy, I don't know why someone would say moderate for experienced hikers. Where a hat, sunscreen, and bring water, the dry heat is about the only thing that will...More

I started on the Lahaina side. There was ample parking and I didn't feel at all unsafe parking and leaving my car there. Some people like to go toward sunset, hike up a mile or so, and have a little campfire after watching... More
