Disappointed
It Was disappointed. We paid for the VIP to have a good spot to seat . We were in the corner back and we are not able to see the stage well. We talked to a staff and also management, they didn’t do anything about it . It’s all about money even you want to go for general admission and it’s not a big different between VIP and general.
The Drinks were weak and the foods were very basic and weak. The show was not that either especially if you experienced other shows in Hawaii.

We had reservations for the Luau on June 22, 2022 for 4 adults. My husband became ill on the night before the Luau and we spent all morning on the 22nd at the Urgent Care. He was unable to attend the Luau that evening and I took our paperwork from the Urgent Care to the registration hut right off the parking lot at the entrance to the Luau and explained the situation. She kept my paperwork from the Urgent Care and I was told that I had brought what they needed to credit the cost for him not being able to attend. I have been waiting for over 6 weeks for the refund and now they say they have no record. Very frustrating!

Was disappointed. We paid for the VIP to get premium drinks and they didn't even have premium alcohol. The drinks were very weak to top it off. We ate pork from the previous ceremony. The buffet was weak. I've been to other Luau's in Maui that were by far better. My guest loved it only because they didn't experience others. The show and stories were great. It was probably the best part of the experience.

Loved this! The food was good, the drinks were great, and the show was fantastic! Our VIP seating gave us a center stage view. Really enjoyed learning about the history of the islands through the performances. Highly recommend!

What a great experience! We booked the "VIP" tour which allowed us to enter 30-45 minutes prior to the rest of the attendees and sit closer to the front, although I think most anyone who came later still had plenty of food and good views of the stage. As VIP, we also were able to get a family picture taken by their professional photographer (although buying a 8x10 copy will cost you $20). The bartender was extremely generous in pouring the alcohol, and drinks were unlimited. They actually start you off with 2 right off the bat!
The food was good but there wasn't a huge variety. The pork was delicious, though, so I was happy enough with the selections.
The dancing was fantastic! All were very enthusiastic and talented as the "told" the story of the island through the hula dance. The performances and evening ended with a fire dancer who had my wife cheering with delight. Our boys enjoyed the event as well. All-in-all it was an expensive but entertaining evening.

Overall it was a fun experience however the food left a lot to be desired...it wasn't good. The stories and performers were enjoyable and the venue was nice but considering what we paid the food should have been MUCH better.

We had an amazing time at the Luau on our visit to Maui last month. The drinks and the Pork was delicious! Our server was top notch and never left us waiting on anything. He predicted our needs and had fresh drinks on the table for us without us knowing because we were so focused on the show. And the show was beautiful! Was a great experience. I was a little surprised at the number of people at the show, I thought there would be way less on attendance but it didn’t affect how great the show was.

We booked vip in advance and it was so worth it. First to be seated, front row seats. First to buffet line. Food was okay. But, I'm very particular about my food. The servers were great. The drinks were great. The show was well put together and very entertaining. The mc tild the stories well. The dancers were great. The fire show was by far my hubby's favorite part. It was all very entertaining.

We booked this kind of last minute, only about a week before our trip. I had read the mixed reviews about the food and the show, but gave it a shot since we had limited choices due to timing. We went August 1.
ARRIVING: we couldn’t get VIP tickets due to timing. We showed up about 5:20 for the 5:45 general seating time. We were checked in promptly and sent to a picture taking area, had our souvenir photo taken and then directed to the dinner line.
LINES: I was not bothered by the line, we knew we arrived early and wouldn’t go in until 5:45. So I think people who reviewed that negatively had unrealistic expectations. Once seated, the buffet line was not that bad, we did wait a little bit, but consider any event like that (wedding, banquet) this was a similar line experience. Line for drinks was not long either.
FOOD: if I’m being honest, food was not super great. I thought the pork was a little dry, I thought the fish was too salty (and I put salt on everything- so really was salty) I LOVED the chicken. So juicy and tender and flavorful. Also loved the pickled cucumber/carrots. Mac salad and green salad were good. I read reviews about flies. I did see flies around the desserts, but not around the rest of the food. I did think the first drink when we walked in was a little watery, but I think just because some ice had melted because it was hot out. The other drinks were totally fine. Food was overall so-so, some things hit, some things miss. But, we went for the show not the food.
SHOW: I thought the show was great!! The MC explained the stories and described the culture and that is what we came for! The dancers were great. I was not bothered at all that some of the dancers were also greeting us when we first came in. There were 2 stages, which I appreciated. Since we booked late we didn’t get the best seats for the main show, but had great seats for the ocean stage. The fire dancer was amazing! I had read reviews about such a short fire dance, so I timed it. It was 6 minutes. Of course it would have been amazing for the fire to be longer because it was soo cool!! But, to the people who thought it was too short- how long could you expect someone to dance with flaming batons in their hands and fire right next to their heads? That’s gotta be hot!! Five stars for the show.
SERVICE: service was also very good. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. My only comment here is that our particular server seemed to disappear before the show was over, so I went to the bar to get another drink. Not a big deal, no line at the bar really. Before that he had been great and I heard other servers interact with guests. Everyone there seems to have service at top of mind.

Why is there two different websites for Myths of Maui luau websites? one is cheaper than the other. That's odd! one is through royal lahaina luau and the other is directly through myths of maui. Can some explain?
Aloha
We are sorry for the confusion they should both have the same rates as they are the same company. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention so we may address this.

We are going for my birthday in February. Is it worth the extra cost for VIP? I have been to 3 luaus on Oahu and just did regular admission but wondering, since I'd like my birthday to be pleasant, if we should pay the difference. We are staying at the Royal Lahaina hotel.
Aloha
With our VIP seating there are many perks, you are called up first for the buffet, you will have premium seating in the first two rows as well as an orchid flower lei for the ladies and a kukui nut leis for the gentlemen.

Is it still possible to attend the luau but without the meal? I heard the cost of these tickets are ~1/2 price.

Honestly, I'm not sure if you can or not. I do not remember that option. I'm sure you can call the hotel though.
